We arrived in Amsterdam around 12:45 p.m. We had an hour-and-a-half to get to the next gate for departure to Budapest. This included going through passport control. We did not have to retrieve our baggage which was a good thing. There was a little confusion about where to go and a few folks nearly missed the flight. In fact, I had a conversation with the agent at the gate regarding next flight to Budapest, etc. Everyone made it!!

We arrived in Budapest. All bags made it except one. Ellen Strickland's bag was missing. We filed all the forms and then made our way to the bus that would take us to the ship. It was hot in Budapest - 90 degrees!

Arriving at the ship, we made our way on board. Winnie Gaffney and Andrea Hall(Jean Guinee's daughter) were on the balcony over the entrance greeting us as we entered the ship. After getting our room keys, we checked in our rooms and quickly made our way to the Cabaret Lounge for a welcome cocktail and briefing from the Captain and a port talk about the schedule on Tuesday.

Following the briefing, we enjoyed dinner in the Compass Rose Restaurant on board. The dinner was the following:
Appetizer: Hungarian Appetizer Plate (with salami, smoked Ham, marinated Bell Peppers and Fresh Lagosh Bread)
Soup: Carrot Orange Soup (with Ginger and Cilantro)
Entrees: a choice of the following: "Wellington" Filet of Pork wrapped in Puff Pastry with Madeira Sauce (served with Broccoli and Lyonnaise Potatoes); Hungarian Fish Porkolt (River Perch with onions, tomatoes, peppers, garlic, white wine) (served with "Nokedli" pasta); Breaded baked Eggplant (layered with Tomato and mozzarella cheese)
Dessert: A choice of "Dobos Torta" (layered butter cream-chocolate cake with caramel topping OR Ice Coupe "Vintager" (rum raisin ice cream with marinated grapes topped with whipped cream).

Following dinner, we went back to the room and unpacked. The best thing about a river cruise is being able to unpack and make yourself at home! At 9 p.m. the ship repositioned to the city center of Budapest. A commentary from the bridge made us aware of what we were seeing. Seeing Budapest at night was enchanting!!

A good night's sleep was welcomed by all.
